Relaxation / Swedish Massage
Relaxation massage is a smooth, gentle style of massage designed to improve circulation, range of movement, relief minor muscle pain and promote overall relaxation. In Swedish massage, the therapist uses long strokes, kneading, deep circular movements, vibration, and tapping.
Deep Tissue / Sports Massage
Deep Tissue massage is similar to Swedish massage, but usually deeper and customized to the needs of the individual, understanding that everyone builds more tension in some places than others. Sports massage focuses on treating soft tissue aches, pain and injuries that are associated with recreational activities. Massage can reduce muscle stiffness and improve relaxation by reducing heart rate and blood pressure.
Connective Tissue / Myo-facial release
This modality focuses on myo-fascial manipulation of connective tissue, braking of scar tissue, trigger points — muscle “knots” that are painful when pressed, and post injury situation. It feels like a deep tissue massage with some specific grips and pulls. Localized and chronic levels of stress and pain are also treated effectively with this modality.
Also called ‘Assisted Yoga,’ Thai Massage facilitates the opening of infinite body parts and energy gateways just like Yoga poses do. The therapist assists the person through all sorts of stretches and myo-fascial releases. It is passive for the client. It works on Ayurvedic marma points and energy lines, so it influences the person’s physical and mental aspects as well.
Thai Massage was developed by Buddhist monks in Thailand as a healing modality 2,500 years ago. Thai massage uses passive stretching and gentle pressure along the body’s energy lines to increase flexibility, relieve muscle and joint tension and balance the body’s energy systems. Thai massage is both deeply relaxing and energizing.
