Maria Paula started her journey in Yoga 12 years ago in Bogota, Colombia. At that time she was studying Physical Theatre at The National Theater to be an actress. She first got interested in Yoga while looking for an organic way to connect her mind and body to stay calm during her performances. After practicing for years she felt a desire to deepen her knowledge of Yoga, and moved to the heart of India for 6 months where she completed her first 300hr Teacher Training in Hatha Yoga.

While in India Maria Paula studied Ashtanga Yoga in the city of Mysore. After that she moved to New York for 6 months and did her second 200hr Teacher Training with Sri Dharma Mittra in Vinyasa Yoga at his New York center. In New York she also discovered the Jivamukti school, the method of Sharon Gannon and David Life (direct students of Sri Patthabi Jois). After 5 years abroad she moved back to Bogota, where she taught professionally for 5 years.

Aware that the journey of Yoga was one of continuously growing, she continued to come to the US a few times a year to study closely with teachers such as John Friend, founder of Anusara Yoga, and Shiva Rea, creator of Prana flow. In order to learn the Jivamukti method first hand Maria Paula has been going to study with Sharon Gannon and David Life at their center in Woodstock, NY. Maria Paula also began her certification in Anusara Yoga with BJ Galvan, a certified Anusara Yoga teacher in charge of Anusara TTC in Latin America.

Maria Paula teaches Vinyasa and Ashtanga classes that are both challenging and fun, with emphasis on alignment and safety. Recently Maria Paula moved to Miami and her goal is to share the benefits of Yoga with everyone.
